Standardization is the buzzword of the CDM scene. In a report commissioned by the UK’s Department for International Development, Perspectives explores key principles for standardization of baseline methodologies. It assesses how benchmarks could be calculated, how the aggregation level should be set and how stringency should be defined. Moreover the impacts on transaction costs and regulatory requirements are discussed. Please find the report below: Baseline Standardization Perspectives 5-10

INFRAS was contributing to a wider CDM in China study which was published by the Chinese government and the World Bank, supported by the Govt of Norway and Switzerland (SECO). This updated study takes stock of recent CDM developments and achievements in China, tracks the process by which China has become the world’s largest Certified Emission Reduction (CER) supplier, and shows how the country has successfully developed added value by leveraging carbon finance to support its domestic sustainable development priorities. Furthermore, the study is pointing out the potential of CDM opportunities that have arisen during the Kyoto Protocol commitment period to build a solid system that also meets national objectives under the National Climate Change Program and its CDM strategy. The final version of the CDM in China study can be downloaded here.
